** This activity is a great way for your child/children to show what they have learned from any book this summer!  Help prevent Summer Slide~encourage the Visual Book Report.

Do you have any old shoe boxes around the house??? If you do, don’t get rid of them-turn them into a Visual Book Report with your child! This activity is perfect for school aged children grades K-6.

What you will need:

book report book, shoe box, glue, construction paper, crayons and/or markers.

At the end of each week/month ask your child what their favorite book has been thus far.  Ask them for the book’s main characters, the story’s setting, and their favorite parts.  Then, have your child choose a scene from the book that they would like to re-create using their shoe box and supplies.  While working, ask questions such as, “What did you like about this book?  Why?” and “Would you recommend this book to a friend?  Why or why not?”

When the Visual Book Report has been completed-allow time for it to dry.  Encourage your child to share his/her Visual Book Report with the entire family!

Happy Learning!
